It's official—we finally have a winner of HGTV's Smart Home and the $1.2 million prize that comes with it.

Maureen Rustrian, a credit analyst from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, said that she's been entering the HGTV Smart Home sweepstakes for years. “I entered every day, would sign up both times and pray," she claimed in a press release.

Maureen's hard work and determination definitely paid off—for those of you looking to win one of HGTV's incredible homes, maybe it's time to step up your game and enter twice a day just like this year's winner.

The New Jersey mom described how surreal it was the moment she found out she was the new owner of her dream house after she was ambushed by HGTV Smart Home host and interior designer, Tiffany Brooks.

“I thought it was a joke at first, but then I realized that no one would actually have all this equipment with the cameras, lights and microphones,” said Rustrian in a press release. “And then, I heard Tiffany’s voice—it’s so distinct—and it slowly started to sink in.”

The plan to ambush Maureen was simple—HGTV cameras first got a hold of her husband at his fitness studio. From there, he organized a backyard barbecue where the big reveal would all go down.

As for owning the home? Maureen couldn't be more excited. “I love the entryway tilework, the high ceilings, the layout and the darker colors Tiffany used in the home,” she said. “It’s all absolutely beautiful. But my favorite part is how open the kitchen is to the family room. I love to cook, but our home doesn’t have the open concept.”
